Irrawaddy School's Forgotten Birthday Party

Everyone knows about birthday but they might not know about Forgotten Birthday. Have you ever heard about a group of people celebrated their birthday at the same time, at the same day and at the same place? However, they all have different birthdays. This is called Forgotten Birthday Party. The Irrawaddy School is located in Mae Pa, Thailand. The School celebrates Forgotten Birthday Party for over 200 children of their birthday in every year. For this year, 24 of Wide Horizons students help these children to have fun by playing game in their birthday party.
At first, Irrawaddy School invited to Wide Horizons students for organizing games to have fun with children to be happy on their birthday party. Our organizers divided by ourselves into groups of five to take responsibility. Then, we divided students into group of five by their age. We played with them around three hours. During playing time, the children were very happy and they felt tired. We played many kinds of games, which depend on their age. Especially for quite young students, we prepared dancing and singing game. After the games activities, some students entertained with Karen traditional dance and model dance for the visitors. Then, we helped them to prepare for their individual birthday cakes. As the last agenda, we sang birthday song and blew the candles’ light together wonderfully.
Furthermore, we believed that we had done a good job in this forgotten birthday party of Irrawaddy School for the children. Even though we were very tired, we could satisfy by ourselves as we could fulfill these children’s desire to celebrate birthday party like other children. We had seen their smiles, happiness on their faces, which can spread us to be delighted and empathized of their feelings. For this reason, we could never forget this day because we feel like we are meaningful people for these children as we did the worthwhile birthday celebration.
